The Shoot Out 24 Hour Filmmaking Festival Boulder returns on October 7-9, 2011 for an eighth year! The event kicks off on October 7th at 5:55 PM in front of the Boulder County Courthouse on the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder.

Since 2004, The Shoot Out Boulder asks filmmakers to trust their courage, imagination and determination by making a 7-minute film in just 24 hours. The challenge and skill involved becomes evident with the list of required technical, material, and timing 'rules' for creating the films. Teams must provide their own equipment, cast and crew.

Each film can be no longer than 7 minutes in length (including credits) and must be edited in-camera and returned to the event organizers no later than 24 hours after the start of the event. All films must include 5 of the eleven items announced at the start of the event in “The Brief.” All films are judged to come up with the Top 10 Films for the Gala Screening Event. The Shoot Out is dedicated to getting as much exposure for the filmmakers and their films as possible.

This uniquely Boulder-made filmmaking contest continues to exists because of our community of 17 & under students, families looking for a fun experience to share in, to professionals sharpening their collaborative filmmaking skills. Make sure you don't get left out of the fun this year!
